Take up your cross ( words of Jesus )

To carry a Roman cross, meant that, you submitted to them, and that you were under there authority, so that was what Jesus was saying here, is when you deny yourself ( your plan, and mission ), take up your cross ( submit to God ), and follow Him, that you can be His disciples ( daily walk ), notice He didn't say , you can be SAVED; there is a difference between, being saved, and being His disciple; be BOTH; ( Lk 9:23 ) God bless!
